Who Am I?

My name is Dane Fitzmaurice. I am a passionate, creative, and hard-working patron of the arts, and currently serve as the lead artist at Bruxe Studios — a startup video game and app development company. I have significant experience collaborating on artistic and technological projects with a wide array of individuals in professional and academic settings. My goal is to become a lead visual and technical artist in the computer gaming industry.

Education

I have been receiving training in the visual arts ever since I could hold a pencil, and for just as long have been finding ways to apply my skills to my love for video games. Therefore, it should be no surprise that I decided to pursue both fine art and game design at George Mason University. This culminated in two Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees — one in Art and Visual Technology (with a concentration in painting) and another in Computer Game Design. Education of course never ends, and I continue to learn and pursue new knowledge in the wonderful world of the arts.

Skills and Competencies

While I have a well-rounded understanding of and experience with most technical fields in game design, my area of greatest interest and skill is 2D and 3D game art production. This has been shaped and inspired by my general background in fine arts. From 3D modeling to 2D concept paintings, my depth of intuition across this subject matter allows me to see my work in its overarching context, just as easily as its individual components.
